The Raw Brownie
The Raw Brownie is a go-to recipe in our Blue Star family! Easy, healthy, and so tasty! We first discovered this recipe from Sarah Britton of My New Roots and have since experimented and adjusted it to exactly how we like it. One of the best parts about this easy dessert is that you can be creative with the flavor. You can use your favorite nut as the flour base, some of our favorites are almonds, pecans, walnuts, or even a mixture of a few! You can also make these brownies as sweet or as bitter as you’d like by adding more medjool dates or more cocoa! We are confident you’ll love them as much as we do.
Things you’ll need:
A food processor
Measuring cups
Baking/pie pan
Ingredients:
2 cups of almonds
2 cups of medjool dates (pitted)
1 cup of raw cocoa
1/4 tsp of sea salt
1. Finely chop your almonds in food processor until they have a flour like texture.
2. Pit and half your medjool dates.
3. While the food processor is running, drop dates into almond flour one at a time. Continue until you have used two cups of dates and the texture of your mixture is sticky. The dates and almond flour should stick together and not fall apart in crumbs. If you prefer more sweetness add in a few more dates!
4.Once your mixture has reached the consistency ( and sweetness) you desire, measure out 1 cup of raw cocoa and add it to your date and almond mixture.
5.Mix cocoa, dates, and almonds together until cocoa is evenly distributed.
6.Place mixture in a pie pan and flatten. Sprinkle 1/4 tsp of sea salt to garnish.
7.Place your brownies in the freezer for one hour.
8.Cut, serve, and enjoy!
Store in the refrigerator.
Happy Holidays!
